Landscaping
The City of Rolling Fork’s Landscape Department is organized into two functional sections: a Design Branch and a Maintenance Branch. Together, these teams support the appearance, safety, and usability of public spaces by maintaining City facilities and grounds, including municipal buildings, street medians (where applicable), trees along City streets, playgrounds, parks, and public open spaces.
Design Branch
The Design Branch is led by a landscape architect (or designated design professional). This role provides professional landscape planning and design support to City administration and offers technical guidance to the Maintenance Branch.
The Design Branch also plays an important educational role by helping increase public awareness of the value of a well-designed and well-maintained built environment— including parks, streetscapes, public open spaces, and City building grounds. When applicable, the landscape architect may also oversee Citywide initiatives related to the urban tree canopy and other natural assets.
Maintenance Branch
The Maintenance Branch is responsible for implementing approved landscape plans and for maintaining City grounds in a manner that reflects the character, function, and intended use of each area. This includes routine upkeep, seasonal work, and responsive maintenance to keep City properties clean, safe, and visually appealing.
The Maintenance Branch is typically staffed by a landscape supervisor and foreman leadership, supported by assistant foremen and landscape laborers, who carry out daily field operations and maintenance activities.
