Animal Control
Animal Control
The City of Rolling Fork’s Animal Control function is responsible for enforcing applicable City ordinances related to animals and public safety. Core responsibilities may include enforcing leash requirements, responding to reports of stray or aggressive animals, assisting with animal rescue, and supporting humane handling and transport of animals when needed. Animal Control also investigates reports of animal cruelty and neglect.
In addition to responding to calls about stray or unwanted dogs and cats, Animal Control may remove deceased animals from public roadways and, when appropriate, set traps for non-domestic animals that pose a safety concern or create a nuisance. In limited circumstances, Animal Control may also assist with the capture and removal of certain wild animals in coordination with the appropriate agencies.
If you need to report a stray animal, a potentially dangerous animal, suspected cruelty, or another animal-related issue, contact the City of Rolling Fork during normal business hours. For emergencies or immediate safety concerns, call 911.
Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption
The City encourages responsible pet ownership and supports efforts to place adoptable animals into safe, loving homes. If Rolling Fork maintains an animal shelter or partners with a regional shelter for housing and adoptions, residents may be able to view available pets, learn about adoption requirements, and obtain information regarding spay/neuter and vaccination programs through the City’s designated shelter partner.
Please consider adopting. Many animals have limited time in shelter care, and adoption provides a second chance while helping the community manage stray and unwanted animals in a humane way.
Adoption Fees and What They Include (Sample)
Adoption fees and services vary by shelter and partner organizations. Where offered, adoption packages commonly include age-appropriate vaccinations and spay/neuter services, typically including a rabies vaccination at the time of surgery.
